Evaluation

Audience Feedback
Upon the completion of the three products based on our recent moving image production Eve. Our group is now ready to begin brainstorming on potential questions on gaining audience feedback in response to our made teaser trailer, poster and front cover page of a magazine. This shall help in answering our evaluation questions based upon what our intended target audience think, and how successful was our work overall. This will give us the answers that we seek into how effective our idea was and if it directs itself towards our intended target audience and if all products made link back to the film and genre.

Our group decided to gain feedback through the construction of a focus group. We decided this would be most effective in acquiring information  as this form shall present questions to our target audience within a group where they can openly discuss with one another about their responses and attitudes regarding our work with the recent production Eve. A focus group would be effective for us in gathering the needed diverse opinions based from our production, where they can openly discuss with one another about the questions presented to them and how well they think we have lived up to each proposed questions.

Friday 20th January 2017-Conducted Audience Feedback
On this day, our group conducted the audience focus group to which we gained the valued answers we were seeking for the outcome of our productions. We presented the questions out to audiences and allowed them to watch the teaser first, than moving onto the film poster and magazine cover. Each answer was discussed so audience knee what they were talking about. Their responses was filmed, and created on Primere Pro to be presented onto our blogs to give us a visual piece detailing the answers to our proposed questions regarding our production Eve.

Evaluation Questions

Question 1
In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
Within the evaluation of our media product, it is important to consider how well our main production of the Eve teaser trailer matches up against current and real life media products existing. Self-evaluating this,  I shall be reflecting upon the production and its importance, a crucial part of assessing my work, seeking the success of the production of our media products. Finding out if our group was able to successfully use, develop and challenge different conventions of our intended teaser trailer and chosen genre horror. Additionally, I shall also reference the recent audience feedback that has been conducted for the evaluation of our media products to our target audience in regards towards my work commenting upon the aspects of the teaser, looking closely at conventions such as mise en scene, narrative, genre, character representation and title fonts and styles.

In conclusion, this evaluation has allowed me to reflect on how I've adapted the genre and how effective each change has been as well as focusing upon the typical conventions of the product and the genre.

Question 2
How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary tasks?
In regards towards this evaluation question, its important that the media products I have created work together and relate back to one another. My created products, a teaser trailer for the new horror film Eve, a promotional poster brandishing the film and a magazine front cover featuring the new film will all work as one as a marketing campaign in promoting EVE. My products main aim is to interest our target audience and persuaded them into consuming the entirety of our film upon release, this is reliant upon the overall success of my constructed products as its main aim is to advertise and promote. Within this evaluation question, I shall be investigating the overall success in how well I managed to combine my media product and ancillary tasks together, referring back to my audience feedback, as well as decisions I made to create the products overall.

This task has enabled me to reflect on how well I have combined my three products and how professional they all look in regards to the industry, which is especially important for myself in advertising the films name. I feel like all media products work well with one another in marketing the film names EVE, the promotional products appeal to a broad range of people on different media platforms. My teaser would more than likely been seen online which would attract a great deal of my target audience of young people. In regards towards the ancillary tasks, these promotional adverts would be seen within the real world, such as newspapers, billboards, shops and advertisements on buses.

Question 3
What have you learnt from your audience feedback?
In regards towards this evaluation question, I conducted audience feedback to gain responses and opinions on my three media products. My audience feedback conducted was a focus group where we sat down a group of diverse people ranging from our target audience to answer honest questions regarding my ancillary tasks and teaser trailer. The purpose of a focus group allowed us to gain honest answers, and to allow the group of people to openly discuss with one another about how successful or weak each of our media products was. All this feedback gave me a good variation of points that will allow me to evaluate the success of my three products.

In conclusion, I have managed to summarize the main responses and opinions from the media products gained by my audience feedback upon the ancillary tasks and teaser trailer. Successfully identifying the main strengths and weaknesses of my constructed products and how well they relate to one another in regards towards genre and narrative. From the completion of this evaluation task, I have been able to identify and understand what my flaws were, what I could of perhaps improved to enhance my products, as well as identifying the key strengths and actions I carried out for the success of each of my created products.

Question 4
How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?
It is important that I identify the media technologies I have used throughout my advanced portfolio, these new technologies being the internet, equipment and software programs to help in the construction of my media products-my teaser trailer for our horror film EVE, a promotional poster and magazine front cover. I shall be considering how effective each piece of technology was, how I used them, any problems or strengths I encountered whilst using them, most importantly considering how important they were in the construction of my media products but reviewing each one, rating and reviewing.

In conclusion, this evaluation of my work throughout the research, planning, production and post production stages has allowed me to identify where my work has progressed throughout my advanced portfolio. This helps me to identify and understand whether the technologies used was effective enough for myself and if they were part of the success of producing an authentic teaser trailer and promotional media texts.
